Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 22, 2026
Sifter does not collect, transmit, or store any of your data. Period.
Data Collection
Sifter collects no data of any kind. The application:
- Makes no network connections
- Does not communicate with any server
- Does not include analytics, telemetry, or crash reporting frameworks
- Does not include third-party SDKs of any kind
- Does not require an account or registration
File Processing
All file processing occurs entirely on your device. Files you drop into Sifter are:
- Read from your local filesystem
- Processed in-memory using Sifter's own C metadata engine
- Written back to your local filesystem (in-place or as a new file)
- Never transmitted, uploaded, or copied off your device
Data Storage
Sifter persists only a single user preference (whether to dismiss the overwrite warning), stored locally via Apple's UserDefaults on your device. No application state or file information is stored between sessions.
Third-Party Services
Sifter uses no third-party services, APIs, SDKs, or external code. All dependencies are statically linked from vendored source and included in the application binary.
Apple App Store
Sifter uses no App Store-provided analytics (no StoreKit, no AdServices, no AppTrackingTransparency). Apple may collect standard anonymized usage statistics through the Mac App Store as described in Apple's own privacy policy. This is outside Sifter's control and is consistent with every Mac App Store application.
Your Consent
By using Sifter, you consent to this privacy policy.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date at the top will be revised. No material change will involve data collection, because the application is physically incapable of making network connections.
